The Hubbard Street Mural Project, on Hubbard between Ogden and DesPlaines in Chicago, is a unique opportunity for art and community service. Community groups and individual Chicagoans are welcome to come draw and paint from 10:00am-4:15pm on Saturday July 26 & August 2, 16, & 23, 2008. Please meet at the southwest corner of Hubbard & Carpenter before 10:00am. More information on our procedures is available upon request.
Your community group is welcome to book a date to come join us on any of the painting Saturdays listed above. We supply all paint, supplies and equipment and charge no participation fee, but if you have room in your budget to make a donation to our 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, it's always appreciated, and helps ensure the opportunity will stay open to others, in future. We require that you bring (1) adult supervisor for each four (4) minors under the age of 18, and we require each minor to have their parent or legal guardian's signature on their liability release form in addition to their own. If you'd like to book a date for your group's visit, please contact us by July 3, 2008. Send an E-mail to HubbardStMural@yahoo.com (with "attn: group" in the subject line) or call (773) 250-7771 and leave a voicemail message indicating your first, second and third choices for Saturday date(s) you're interested in. Send us a letter on your organization's letterhead via U.S. Mail to Hubbard Street Mural Project, P.O. Box 11165, Chicago IL 60611. Please indicate your interest in coming to participate in the Hubbard Street Mural Project, reiterate your date choices, and we'll respond to let you know which date(s) work in our schedule. Please note that this letter is intended only to indicate your interest in participating; please send it right away, rather than waiting until we've found a workable date.
Feel free to come join us to draw, paint and work at 10:00am on any or all of the above-listed Saturdays that work for you. If you’d like to get involved as a volunteer staffperson, please email us at HubbardStMural@yahoo.com. We are looking for dedicated volunteers that can offer approximately 10 hours per month and 3 Saturdays during the painting season. Positions needed are: artist mentors, mural restoration artists, artist coordinator and scheduler, certified public accountant, legal counselor and grantwriter. We welcome you to join us in creating this historic work of art.
