Since 1999, we have established a track record of successful funding, via grants and corporate sponsorship. Through careful planning, the Mural Project has continued the legacy of public art on Hubbard Street. We encourage you to visit the Mural in person. Go to Hubbard and Racine, and survey the block of concrete train embankment on the south side of Hubbard, west to Elizabeth; that's our newer work, complete with credit panels. Then go east, all the way past DesPlaines. That is our larger historical context, the murals that were painted 30 years ago and have an established position in the minds and published books of many Chicagoans and visitors from other states and countries. You may get a pretty powerful vision of the future possibilities for the Project and a sense of whether you¹d like to get involved as a grantwriter.
Many community and school groups, as well as individuals, from Chicagoland and Michigan have enjoyed learning, painting and community experiences at the Wall. We have excellent professional contacts, a hardworking, committed board and staff, and a well-organized inventory of supplies and equipment. We are currently in the process of planning the next phase of our Project, and are interviewing grantwriters who are ready to join us in taking the next step.
We would like to know more about you, your background and experience. Please provide your resume and references, with a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the Hubbard Street Mural Project.
